After opening the season with a 10-2 win over the Braves two days earlier, the Expos took the second game of their series in Atlanta by a score of 3-0.

Starting pitcher Zach Day pitched seven shutout innings, while allowing three hits. He struck out three and walked two that night. Day finished the year with a 9-8 record and a 4.18 ERA. The 131 innings he pitched that year were the most in his career.

Rocky Biddle collected the save that night. He finished that season with a career-high 34 saves.

The Expos’ first batter of the game, Endy Chavez, singled to left field before the second hitter, Jose Video, smacked a home run off of Braves starter Horacio Ramirez.

Braves slugger Andruw Jones, Chipper Jones and Gary Sheffield combined to go 1-for-10 with two walks.
